It's all new! New home, new riding season, new attitude!

It's official and underway. Jannette and I have moved to Louisiana and now have taken our rides south.
We work in New Orleans, live in Slidell and I'm -finally- legal to ride (plated and titled in the state).

Our first real ride was last weekend, when we went from Slidell to Pensacola, Florida and back. We didn't plan to be riding at night, it just worked out that way.

The weather on Saturday was beautiful, with highs around 70 and lows expected around 50. The plan was to visit my step-mother (technically, I guess ex-step-mother, since she's no longer married to my Dad and hasn't been for 20 years). I have kept in touch with her on Facebook, but I wanted to see her in person. We didn't have the best relationship growing up, but that was a really long time ago, and I'm letting bygones be bygones these days. Brussel Sprout arguments don't hold a lot of weight nowadays.

Anyway, for the ride:

Left Slidell around 1pm, and pulled into Pensacola about 4. We had stopped for fuel once and another time just to mentally prepare and stretch before getting to her house in Pensacola. Cheeto, as always, performed well, with nary a hiccup or sputter. She's got some legs to her.

We chatted for a little while, watched my step-sister's husband do a few chores, then went for dinner at a local seafood restaurant.

By the time we finished, it was nearing 9pm and time to head home. I abandoned the chaps, thinking I wouldn't need them (I should have re-thought that) and put on the yellow tinted goggles for the night ride. Since the temps had dropped into the low 50's, it was a chilly ride home, but a couple of warm up stops later and we pulled into the garage at 11:45pm (still officially the same day!) with 322 miles down for 2014.

So, first trip of the year, complete!
